Gartner® Predicts 2024: build a sustainable and collaborative digital workplace infrastructure

oneclick AG Listed as a Representative DaaS Provider in the Recent Gartner® Market Guide for Desktop as a Service 2023

oneclick AG, a leading provider of digital workspace solutions, has been listed as a Representative Vendor (DaaS) in the recent ‘Market Guide for Desktop as a Service 2023’ by Gartner, one of the most trusted and prestigious research and advisory firms.

The three segments of DaaS

The importance of uninterrupted business operations as well as the growing popularity of remote and hybrid work have elevated the significance of DaaS (Desktop-as-a-Service) for companies. I&O leaders can use the assessment of the market segmentation and use cases for DaaS included of the Gartner Report to make better investment decisions.

The Market Guide says that investment in DaaS is rising as clients seek to provide secure solutions that are less prone to cyberthreats. Sixty-five percent of clients told Gartner that they plan to increase spending in DaaS through 2024.

DaaS Investment Plan

Dominik Birgelen, CEO of oneclick, comments: “It is great to be listed as a Representative Vendor based on our awareness in the market, and the opinion that organisations have about oneclick when they reference us in their discussions with analysts at Gartner.”

As per the report Desktop as a service (DaaS) market spending grew by 22% in 2022 compared with 2021 and is forecast to grow by 19% in 2023 as I&O leaders continue to adopt DaaS to enable remote work. Further findings of the report reveal that the DaaS market has developed into three segments: self-assembled, vendor assembled and vendor-managed.

Birgelen adds: “Organisations are harnessing our DaaS Solution to not only meet employee demands, and stay cost-effective, but also to fulfil their business needs including increased cybersecurity, global talent acquisition and to ensure compliance.”

The Shift of DaaS in Responsibility, Complexity and Required Skills

Gartner anticipate a shift towards the adoption of vendor-assembled and vendor-managed DaaS solutions in 2023 and beyond, driven by clients not wishing to have responsibility for operating DaaS infrastructures as well as net new clients that require vendor-managed solutions that reduce complexity and skills required.

In self-assembled DaaS, clients build their own DaaS solution using vendor-provided components. They configure the infrastructure, manage virtual machines, while the vendor handles component operation, infrastructure management and updates.

2 DaaS Segments

Gartner includes the following solutions for the self-assembled DaaS segment due to the complexity: Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, Amazon WorkSpaces, Citrix Systems (DaaS) or VMware Horizon Cloud.

The reason is clients searching for vendor-managed solutions to reduce complexity and required expertise as well as to not take on the operational responsibilities of DaaS infrastructures. According to the research, by 2026, 80% of DaaS sales will be vendor-assembled or vendor-managed solutions compared with less than 20% in 2023.

Dominik Birgelen, CEO of oneclick, comments: “Companies have started to realize the long-term need and benefits of DaaS. Today, DaaS is not just temporary solution organizations are leaning on, but an integral part of their long-term business strategies.”
